" “Pain and gain, success and shame are all the same.” "

North - Homemaking

The life of a homemaker consists mostly of repetitive tasks, that are often dirty. It can certainly be tedious at times, and one must struggle to keep their spirits up. Yet, despite its challenges, I find an ernest love for the work. I am grateful I have clothes and diapers to wash, and warm running water in which to do dishes.  The greatest reward is my baby's smile.

The work is important, not only for maintaining the household, but for greater personal and cultural existence. Working repetitively develops skills for children and keeps parents physically fit (remember the training in Karate Kid?). It allows us to do the work easily while our minds can stay focused on our real goals (winning a Karate championship, being present and loving, building a successful business, etc.) Little by little we are transforming dirty into clean, liberating stuck energies, and filling our space with loving presence.  It is a dance between chaos and order, the dance of life.  I am learning to make my life an art, painting with the colors of the food I prepare.
