These are the basics I found to
create true happiness in my life.

Nutrition

Eating well is a foundation for feeling energetic and happy. Unfortunately, the study of nutrition is full of controversies, creating confusion. Many people struggle with weight problems, eating disorders, food addictions, hypoglycemia, and diabetes among other difficulties. The good news is there are some basic guidelines that lead most people to success. Some people need a more personalized nutritional plan, which I offer to my patients.

To eat well in general, think of your ancestors hundreds of years ago and try to eat similarly. Organic vegetables (especially dark leafy greens) should be the main part of your meals. Raw fruits and nuts are beneficial. Legumes, grains, and pure meats also contain a lot of nutrition. Look at Dr. Weston Price's work for more information. Avoid modern processed food and fast food, partially hydrogenated vegetable oils, high fructose corn syrup, MSG,colors, and other additives and preservatives. Keep it whole and simple.

Botanical Medicine

Herbs are our allies, helping us through difficult times of our lives, whether it is an acute cold or chronic stress. You can use one at a time or in combination formulas. You can take herbs as a tea (water extract), tincture (alcohol extract), capsule (freeze dried), granules (powdered), salve (oil extract), poultice (crushed wet herb applied topically), essential oil (distilled oil extract), or essence (cold water extract). The herbs that grow closest to you are usually your best medicines. Make a point to learn about them and use them for optimal health.

Paragliding

Paragliding has been at the forefront of my life in the last year. I cannot deny its draw to be outside in the fresh air and warm sun. More than that, it is a sense of freedom to be high in the sky with the birds, looking over vast, beautiful lands. Life is simple there. There is nothing to do or think or worry about except being right where you are in the moment. The innate danger of the sport requires constant awareness and vigilance. Working through turbulent air, facing fears, and climbing out in a thermal to a smoothe glide is heavenly. I appreciate the challenge and reward for it makes my life full.

This is much like my relationship with David Prentice, paraglider pilot extraordinair. He beckons me like the wind to come out and play. I am grateful for his caring instruction and patience. A life of adventure is wonderful, but to share it is bliss.

Meditation

Meditation is part of my practice toward wholeness. I learned a simple, heart-centered meditation from India called sahaj marg. It involves cleansing and prayer to which I am accustomed, and feels very natural to me now. I also utilize teachings from the Bhuddah, Jesus, Rudolf Steiner, Bill W. and other masters.
